I don’t need therapy either.
But it can help.
It can help with
anxiety | worries | grief | trauma | life changes | workplace stress | setting boundaries | forgiving yourself | reaching goals | building relationships | relationship breakdown | letting go | infidelity | parenting | ADHD | CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) | EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) | celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ identities | suicide prevention | supporting Indigenous clients | clients with autism
and other difficult situations. Just ask.
And if your kid is struggling,
I can help with these:
anxiety | emotional regulation | impulsivity | self-esteem | cognitive development | autism | selective mutism | adolescent emotions | anger | challenging behaviours | self-harm | parenting problems | school situations | sibling conflict | parent-child conflict | worries | making friends
(but I’m not equipped to work with kids going through high-conflict separation and divorce).
My Background
Not for nothing, I haven’t changed much since this picture was taken. Except that now I’m certified as a counsellor and psychotherapist across Canada. I work with kids, adolescents, and adults—one on one, in couples, and as families. I’m passionate about finding and celebrating the unique strengths each person possesses. We all have super powers. I’ll be curious about yours.
I have a Masters in Educational Psychology (Counselling) from the University of Regina. I’ve spent more than a decade doing clinical work with people of all ages. I also have over twenty years of experience teaching, counselling, and behaviour consulting in schools, non-profit agencies, employee assistance plans, and private practice.
I have formal training in threat assessment, trauma response, suicide prevention, addressing self-harm, nonviolent crisis intervention, 2slgbtqia+ and trans awareness, positive behaviour supports, nurturing resilience, emotional needs of adolescents, EMDR, narrative therapy, cultural sensitivity, and family dynamics.
I have expertise in diverse learning styles, including ADHD and autism, and in how to help kids and parents navigate schools. I’m a counselling/therapy service provider for BC’s autism funding unit.
I’m a songwriter and musician, and spent a few years recording and touring. I have insight into the highs and lows of building a life as an artist.
My ancestors were colonial settlers from Europe, but I’ve worked with and learned from Indigenous clients and organizations, on reserve and in cities. I’m a mental health provider for BC’s First Nations Health Authority. I grew up on the Prairies, in Treaty 6 territory, but I’ve found real beauty and joy here, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
